Our goals for this paper are to define the IDA framework for pooled data analysis describe the advantages and limitations of this approach discuss sampling, measurement and hypothesis testing within the IDA framework and provide future directions for IDA applications and methodological development. IDA is a framework for conducting the simultaneous analysis of raw data pooled from multiple studies. We offer to this toolkit an approach which we call Integrative Data Analysis (IDA). Together, however, they form a toolkit for researchers interested in analyzing pooled data. Not surprisingly, these methods may share little in their analytics beyond the common goal of data pooling. These methods have been used to examine the efficacy of medications versus cognitive behavior therapy for severe depression ( DeRubeis et al., 1999), the relation between fat-intake and breast cancer ( Hunter et al., 1996), the pharmacogenetics of tardive dyskinesia ( Lerer et al., 2002), the relation of height, weight and breast cancer risk ( van den Brandt et al., 2000), and the mediators of Fluoxetine effects on youth suicidal ideation ( Gibbons et al., 2012). Responsive to this call, methodologists from different fields are developing multiple approaches for pooled data analysis that combine information collected across multiple studies into a single analytic design. With the accrual of high quality databases, both within our national archives and individual laboratories, and the economic pressures of big science research to do more with less, the scientific community is looking for innovative methods that leverage existing resources to answer novel questions. In this review, we outline potential solutions to these challenges and describe future avenues for developing IDA as a framework for studies in clinical psychology. There are also methodological challenges associated with IDA, including the need to account for sampling heterogeneity across studies, to develop commensurate measures across studies, and to account for multiple sources of study differences as they impact hypothesis testing. Integrative Data Analysis (IDA), a novel framework for conducting the simultaneous analysis of raw data pooled from multiple studies, offers many advantages including economy (i.e., reuse of extant data), power (i.e., large combined sample sizes), the potential to address new questions not answerable by a single contributing study (e.g., combining longitudinal studies to cover a broader swath of the lifespan), and the opportunity to build a more cumulative science (i.e., examining the similarity of effects across studies and potential reasons for dissimilarities). The Properties window (3) also appears to show additional information for any item selected in Solution Explorer, including its exact location on disk. The default code file is open in the editor (2). Select the Python Application template, specify a name for the project, and select OK.Īfter a few moments, Visual Studio shows the project structure in the Solution Explorer window (1). For the purposes of this walkthrough, however, let's start with an empty project. Python support in Visual Studio includes several project templates, including web applications using the Bottle, Flask, and Django frameworks. Using search is a great way to find a template when you can't remember its location in the languages tree. To view Python templates, select Installed > Python on the left, or search for "Python". Here you browse templates across different languages, then select one for your project and specify where Visual Studio places files. In Visual Studio, select File > New > Project ( Ctrl+ Shift+ N), which brings up the New Project dialog. This tutorial begins with a simple project containing a single, empty code file. Using projects is much easier than manually managing relationships in unplanned folders, scripts, text files, and your memory. A project allows your application to effortlessly expand and grow. The project also manages external resources that are shared between multiple projects. A project formalizes and maintains the relationships among all the project's files. Application files include source code, resources, and configurations. Step 1: Create a new Python projectĪ project is how Visual Studio manages all the files that come together to produce a single application. For instructions, see Install Python tools for Visual Studio. Visual Studio with the Python workload installed. Step 5: Install packages and manage Python environments.Step 4: Run the completed program in the Visual Studio debugger.Step 3: Create more code in the Interactive REPL window.Step 2: Write and run code to see Visual Studio IntelliSense at work.Step 1: Create a Python project (this article). This tutorial guides you through the following steps: Visual Studio provides first-class language support for Python. Many universities, scientists, casual developers, and professional developers use Python. The language supports all kinds of development, including web applications, web services, desktop apps, scripting, and scientific computing. Python is supported by both a strong developer community and many, free libraries. Python is a popular programming language that is reliable, flexible, easy to learn, and free to use on all operating systems. They have a sweet fragrance when crushed. The needles are dark green or blue green, 1 to 1 1/2 inches long, soft to the touch and radiate out in all directions from the branch. The branches are spreading to drooping, the buds sharply pointed and the bark is very thick, fluted, ridged, rough and dark brown. It is also one of the more common softwoods used in export markets. This wide ranging species grows from 70 to 250 feet tall. It is used widely in construction, laminated timbers, plywood and high grade veneer, interior trim, cabinet work, pallets, boxes, ladders and flooring. It is straight grained and moderately hard. The sapwood is white to pale yellow while the heartwood is orange-red with high contrast between earlywood and latewood. Plantation trees are normally sheared and will produce a crop within 7 to over 10 years depending upon the site and growing area.ĭouglas-fir is one of the stronger of the softwoods and is widely used for structural purposes. It is shipped to the majority of the states and is also exported to the Hawaiian Islands, Guam and some Asian markets. Nationally, it remains one of the most popular Christmas trees species. It is preferred because of its ability to withstand the more harsh growing conditions than the Pacific Northwest seed sources. glauca) has been extensively planted throughout several midwestern state Christmas tree plantations. Today, few trees come from forest lands.Īn interior strain from the Rocky Mountains (P. Since the 1950’s, the transformation from growing trees in the wild to culturing them on plantations has been dramatic. During the following 40 years, nearly all trees were harvested from forest lands. The practicality of these techniques has yet to be proven and remains more of a curiosity rather than a new trend to produce seedlings from trees that exhibit superior Christmas tree characteristics. Research has been done on grafting and rooting from cuttings. It is usually sold as a two or three year old transplant. Seed is generally germinated in bare root nurseries and increasingly in container nurseries. Thus many ancient old-growth forests contain large Douglas-fir that represent the legacy of fires that occurred many centuries ago. The trees can live for a thousand years, largely due to a very thick bark that allows them to survive moderate fires. Under natural conditions, Douglas-fir has established primarily after fires on wetter sites. macrocarpa), the other Pseudotsuga species in western North America, has a very restricted range limited to Southern California and Baja, Mexico. On the coasts, it is associated with western hemlock and other conifers.īigcone Douglas-fir (P. On the west side of the Cascades and Sierra Nevada, it is often the predominate species, but usually occurs in conjunction with several other confers. It grows under a wide variety of environments from extremely dry, low elevation sites to moist sites. The entire range includes central California, western Oregon and Washington, parts of the Rockies and extends north to Alaska. The cones open in the late summer to disperse the seeds and will continue to hang on the trees through the fall. They are reddish-brown to gray, 3″ long and do not dissipate to spread seed as do true firs (Abies sp.). Young cones are small, oval shaped and hang downward. Pollen strobili are small and reddish-brown. This wide ranging species grows from 70 to 250 feet tall. Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) Franco Descriptionĭouglas-fir is not related to the true firs. Weapons 2/2 – 2 /2 Phaser Beam Arrays (phasers have a temporary disable proc) Bridge Officers:ĮNS Tac – Tactical Team I (+dmg) or Beam Fire at Will ENS Eng – Engineering Team I (+Hull heal) LTN Eng – Emergency power to Shields I & II (or Emergency pwr to Weapons I & II for dmg) ENS Sci – Science Team I (+shield heal/buff) A tough ship-type that will serve you well. Its energy beams have a wide coverage allowing it to broadside and basically hit hard from any angle. This can be fixed by adding an RCS (+turn) console however. Generally cruisers have a larger focus on Engineering powers for survivability, and have the slowest turn-rate. The mainstay of starfleet, or its equivalent in the Romulan or Klingon empire, this is a sturdy cruiser that can hold its own. ( ENS – Ensign, LTN – Lieutenant, LTC – Lieutenant-Commander ) Tier 2 Cruiser (typical) Level 10 – Lieutenant-Commander (free Tier 2 ship) I’ll adress them after the following basic builds. Your Bridge officers are very important in Star Trek Online: they decide 1/3rd of your effectiveness in space and on ground. Don’t touch them untill you reach level 50+ when various consoles and traits make them usefull (of sorts). Always use the highest mark available to you, and if possible use Very Rare/Purple quality minimum (ask your fleet).Įspecially for pure starter builds, torpedoes and mines are terrible, even when buffed. Just make sure you match weapons and tactical console(s). You can change the weapon type from the ones listed, as the phaser and polarons are just examples. The listed equipment is standard and readily available as rewards, loot drops, from a regular ship equipment vendor and crafting. So consider those your ‘training wheels’. Except for the last Tier 5 or Tier 6 ship at Level 61, the previous free ships you will most probably discard – they won’t do for end-game content and be horribly outdated way before you reach the final end level 65 Fleet Admiral rank. You will receive a total of 6 free ships one at Level 1/Lieutenant, Level 10/Lt Commander, Level 20/Commander, Level 30/Captain, Level 40/Rear Admiral, none at level 50, and last free ship at Level 61/Fleet Admiral. I’m just listing two ‘key’ ranks where ships get more interesting. The listed builds work on most Cruiser/Escort/Sci ships regardless of (sub-)type. To help you get started, here are some cookie-cutter builds which you can copy. Can do tremendous damage using “ space magic“.įull list of playable ships – Federation, Klingon, Romulan, Dominion, Cross-faction. Innate cloak detection and subsystem targeting (subsystem disables) and Sensor Analysis. Right between cruisers and escorts in terms of power and device slots. Decent shields, decent turn, but only 3/3 weapons. Splits the difference of the other two in many ways. Escorts are like fragile, high performance sports cars (aka “ glass cannons“). At level 50+ as many weapons as cruisers, up to 5/3, plus a special “experimental weapon” (turret). The fastest and most maneuverable and can equip dual heavy cannons which have the highest damage (“burst”) output. Cruisers are considered good all-round ship which in capable hands can take and deal significant damage. There are simple and effective ways to overcome that however (hint: RCS consoles, 55+ engine power). However, they turn like schoolbuses, and get slower as you progress to bigger cruisers and carriers. Most device slots (like a potion quick-bar), most hull strength, and at Tier 5+ most weapon slots 4/4 – 4 front, 4 aft. Just to recap, Star Trek Online’s starships in a nutshell: Cruisers We understand that when you’ve just started the game it might be a bit daunting, so here is a simple setup for you to use. You have received your first command, now it’s time to properly outfit your first ship. Sony has confirmed the three PS4 and PS5 games PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers will receive this July, and it's actually the best lineup the service has seen in a while. The best places to land in Warzone: Vondel, Al Mazrah, and Ashika Island The best upcoming PS5 games: 2023, 2024, and beyond The best weapons in Modern Warfare 2: every gun ranked Since Ghost isn’t as viable, we recommend using Tempered, which allows you to reach max armor with two plates instead of three, or Restock, which replenishes your Lethal and Tactical Equipment every 25 seconds. Still, having Ghost at the end of a match can work wonders, as enemies will have saved a UAV they’ve acquired earlier in a match. In addition, Ghost is no longer as useful as it was since it only activates while you’re moving and since UAVs aren’t as common anymore. It’s always best to have one weapon for long-range (like an assault rifle, LMG, or sniper) and a weapon for close-quarters (such as an SMG). Instead, either pick up a dead enemy’s weapon, use floor loot, or grab a second loadout to obtain a second primary. Overkill used to be essential in Warzone since it gives you two primary weapons, but now, much of the floor loot is completely viable, meaning you can get away with skipping this Perk. Most of the firefights you encounter in Warzone will be from medium- to long-range, so it’s always a good idea to have some sort of assault rifle, sniper, LMG, or Marksman rifle for those situations. A good rule of thumb is to pick weapons that excel at long-range and have a silencer to avoid being detected. In general, there are lots of combinations of weapons that are successful for Warzone. Bring Cold-Blooded, too, so you don’t trigger High Alert or Combat Scout, and make sure you have Snapshots so you can see exactly where certain enemies are, even behind cover. In addition, we advise utilizing Ghost so you can stay off enemy Heartbeats and UAVs, which is important during the end of a match. For this, we advise using the Automaton built for long-range, but with the Fully Loaded weapon Perk so you’ve got full ammo. These are times when you win your Gulag very late in the game or get bought back during the final stages of a match, forcing you to “regain” all the loot you’ve accumulated thus far.īy default, you’ll spawn in with little ammo and be unequipped to handle many situations, especially if you’re being bought back. Automaton regain Ghost loadout Primary: Automatonįor our last loadout, we recommend making a class specifically for regain situations. Then, drop the Type 100, pick up the 3-Line Rifle and the Volk, and you’ll get to keep both weapons but will be able to use Tempered instead. If you happen to come across another loadout in the wild, we advise swapping over to the aforementioned Type 100 class, which still has Quick Fix and Amped but includes Tempered instead. You’ll also want to utilize the Amped Perk to quickly swap between weapons. This weapon is absolutely fantastic as sniper support, and although it doesn’t outshine the Type 100 or Marco 5 up close or the UGM-8 from afar, it does its job at midrange. On top of that, it has a whopping 20-round mag, which is just absurd for a sniper.Īside from the sniper rifle, you’ll want to bring the Volk along with it, thanks to the Overkill Perk. It doesn’t have as fast an ADS time as those weapons, but it’s close and can still secure one-hit eliminations at any range. But before we get into that, you should be aware of how the 3-Line Rifle works when compared to the Swiss or Kar. With this one, we’ve got an Overkill class that works well alongside another fantastic sniper support weapon. Snipers sure aren’t what they used to be in Warzone, but the 3-Line Rifle is close enough to the old Kar98k and K31 Swiss that we can safely give you a recommendation for it. |
